This year’s Sir William Luce fellow is Dr Azza Mustafa Mohamed Ahmed who will deliver her lecture on 'The Sudan Movement: the emergence of a new political block, 2013-2019'. The public lecture will take place at 12pm on Tuesday 11 July 2023 on Zoom (only). This lecture was postponed from 14 June: if you have previously registered for this event you do not need to re-register. If you wish to attend online please register here.
In the context of the continuing revolution and the recent military fighting in Sudan the lecture will provide a timely consideration of the country’s traditional political movements and their responses to the challenges of modern liberal discourses emerging from youth movements and civil society organizations and to those social and political movements now active in the marginalised peripheries of the country.
Dr Katie Hickerson’s 2022 Sir William Luce Fellow lecture “Portraits, Postcards and Protest: mobilizing Sudanese visual culture” is now available online.
The application period for the 2024 fellowship will run from June to September and will be advertised on the website of the university's School of Government and International Affairs.
