Our services: Study Spaces: Using our Space Booking system and study spaces

Using our Space Booking system and bookable study spaces

To book a timeslot for any of our bookable study spaces, you will need to use our Space Booking system which you can access by using your University login details.

Things you need to know

  • Bookings are released on a rolling basis and you can make your booking up to four days in advance. For the purpose of the booking restrictions, one week runs from Sunday to Saturday.
  • Please only visit during your booked timeslot. You can arrive at any time during this period but will need to leave the building promptly by the end of your timeslot to allow for full and comprehensive cleaning.
  • You must bring your campus card in order to access the building during your booked slot and to borrow any books.
  • At sites where pre-booking is required, we will only be allowing entry to users who have pre-booked. Once we have reached capacity for the day, we will be unable to allow any further bookings.
  • Your study space is allocated by the system, limited to floor level when you book using our Space Bookings system. Please sit in the space you have been allocated - if you don't, you may be asked to leave.
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee access to power points at your designated study space - if you intend to work on a laptop, please make sure it is fully charged before you visit.

During your visit, please follow the safety measures we have in place and be considerate of other users.

University members and visitors are strongly recommended to wear face coverings in University buildings, including the Library, and when in crowded and enclosed spaces, especially where you come into contact with people you do not usually meet.

If you have symptoms of Covid-19 or have received a positive test result, you should self-isolate, book a Covid-19 test and inform the University - you must not visit the Library or our study spaces. Please visit our webpages for full details.

Cancelling your unwanted booking

If you have made a booking and you decide you don’t need it or are unable to attend, please cancel your booking to allow others to make use of it. We need you to do this as soon as you can to let other students use unwanted study space timeslots. Simply go to the ‘My Bookings’ tab on the Space Bookings app and cancel your booking.

If you ever need any help in cancelling a booking or have a genuine reason for not attending your booking, please email main.library@durham.ac.uk.
