Many colleges at Durham University have their own libraries. Whilst the college libraries are managed independently from the University’s main library, they play an important role in supporting learning and well-being on campus.
The college libraries provide study space as well as information resources, which can be found by searching our library catalogue, Discover, and some offer colouring books and reading for pleasure collections. Library access and borrowing are normally limited to the members of each college, however, some colleges may permit access to resources for other members of the University depending on circumstances (please contact the college for more advice).
Colleges listed below allow any student to access their study space when Bill Bryson Library is closed. As a visiting student, you must sign in on arrival with the porter at College Reception and remember to take your campus card with you (please contact the college directly for more information).
Colleges allowing access when Bill Bryson Library is closed: St. Aidan's; St. Chad's; Collingwood; Grey; John Snow; Josephine Butler; St. Mary's; South; Stephenson; Trevelyan and Van Mildert.
If you have any queries regarding college libraries, please contact the relevant college library in the first instance (use the links below to email the college libraries).
