Self-guided tour of the Library: 5. Borrow, Return and Print

5. Borrow, Return and Print

Borrow from us

To borrow any of our items, you can use our self-service borrowing machines in the Borrow and Print area, next to The Snug.

Visit our Borrow guide for more information on allowances and loan periods.

Our video below shows you how to use our self-service machines (a link to this video and written instructions are also available on each of our machines in the Library).

Top tip: Remember to check your receipt or your Library Card account on Discover for the date your item is due back.

Return

You can return your items to the Library using our self-service return machines on Level 2, in the borrow and print area. The same machines are used to return your items.

Alternatively, you can post any books you want to return through the Book Drop outside the main entrance (to the left-hand side of the main doors as you look at the building).

Our video below shows you how to use both our self-service machines and Book Drop facility (a link to this video and instructions are also available on each of our machines).

You can find out more about using these services on our Returns guide.

Print, scan and photocopy

We have several multi-function devices (MFDs) in this area, where you can print (from a Library PC or your own device) scan and photocopy, and two large-scale printers where you can print up to A0 in size.

Watch our videos on our Getting Started guide to find out how to print, scan and copy at the Library.

You can find out more about printing on the My Digital Durham SharePoint site, including how to print from your own device using PaperCut.

Top tip: Find out how to buy printer credits to be able to use any MFDs across campus – see CIS’s Student guide to printing on campus (sharepoint.com).

Next: Point 6: Laptop lockers

Turn around and walk over to the white laptop lockers, next to the blue sofas.
