To support you in taking a break from your studies and to help manage our spaces effectively, we’re providing Study Break cards at Bill Bryson Library for you to leave on your desk to let other users know you’ll ‘bee right back!’
Available from Monday 22 April, simply write the start time on the card and leave it on your desk; you will be able to take a break and return to the study space within 30 minutes. This will allow you to take your much-needed break and let others know that the desk is still in use.
Our Study Break cards are available to support you in taking a break, but we’re also asking you to be considerate and support others:
We always suggest that you don’t leave any items unattended in the Library at any time. If you do choose to leave your belongings and you’re away from your desk for longer than 30 minutes, our staff may remove them from the desk to make room for others who need the space*.
*We will only move items that have been left unattended at a study desk for longer than the 30-minute break time. University Library and Collections takes no responsibility for items left unattended in the Library and suggest you keep valuable items with you at all times.
Why not make use of our bookable spaces to guarantee a study desk for the length of time you need? More information on the types of spaces you can book is available on our Study Spaces guide.
To book a space, visit our Space Bookings system – the space will be available for you at any time during your booked timeslot.
Please only sit in our bookable areas if you have pre-booked your space.
