This guide is for students and for academic staff to find out how Durham University Library and Collections (DULC) supports reading lists. Select the topic you require from the tabs along the top.
Students can find how to access reading lists in the Using Talis Aspire tab, where tutors can also find out how to create and edit them.
Working closely with module tutors, Durham University Library and Collections aims to provide online access to the majority of reading list materials; especially anything designated 'essential'. We help tutors to check whether suitable online access is possible for the materials they have chosen, we procure eBooks wherever available and we scan extracts from our print collections where it is legal to do so.
Students should find the full reading list present within each module in Learn Ultra and, wherever appropriate, links to readings relevant to each week, block or topic. You should be able to click all essential items described in the online list for your module to be taken to the full text. In all cases, clicking on the book titles or 'View availability' button should describe the library's provisions and availability of that text. Select the eBooks guidance tab above to understand the limits imposed on some eBooks and guidance in maximising access.
All students and academic staff are welcome to contact library.resources@durham.ac.uk for any enquiries about reading lists. Students are also welcome to contact their Faculty Librarian.
