Library Research Support: Open Research: RDM training courses

This guide is intended to provide advice and support on open access research, including guidance around Durham Research Online (DRO), open access publishing, research data management and related topics.

DCAD training

The University runs one regular, in-person training workshop for all research-active staff called Workshop on writing a good data management plan.  In this workshop we will talk about:

  • best practices and terminology used in Research Data Management
  • planning data-related work before it takes place
  • describing different types of research data
  • managing research data during your research
  • what to do with research data after you publish your findings
  • the DMPonline tool for writing a Data Management Plan

You will also begin writing your own Data Management Plan in the workshop.  The workshop runs once per academic term.  The next workshop is scheduled for:

Online training

University of Edinburgh and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have teamed up to create a massive open online course called Research Data Management and Sharing.  It includes five modules covering all the most important aspects of research data management.

The course is available in 22 languages.

Time and effort required:  13 hours to complete course
