Our services: Accessibility and Support: Services and Facilities

Services

We want our libraries to be as accessible as possible and aim to offer a personal service to each student. This might include any of the following.  
  • Extension of the 3-day loan period to 5 days  
  • Checking your reading list on the library catalogue for or with you  
  • One-to-one assistance and inductions  
  • Accompanying you to the relevant section of the Library, and familiarising you with the contents and layout  
  • Retrieving material from the shelves  
  • Retrieving items from other library sites  
  • Postal loans
  • Photocopying/scanning for students who have physical or visual difficulties  
  • Providing reading material in alternative formats by request  
  • Allocating a member of the library staff to you to be your personal contact  
  • Access to the Disability Support (DS) Study Rooms available in the Bill Bryson Library and ISC Library  

Hearing Induction Loops

All Libraries have hearing induction loop systems. Portable systems are available at the Help and Information Desks. 
The Shincliffe Room in the Bill Bryson Library also has an infra-red hearing loop system. If you are attending a Library induction or workshop in this room and would like to use a head set or neck loop, please let the person who is running the session know in advance.
